Currently Underway
The Patient Centered Scheduling initiative advances UW Health’s commitment to delivering faster, simpler, and more responsive access to imaging services through the implementation of Epic’s Wait List, Fast Pass, and Self-Scheduling functionality. These enhancements allow patients to schedule appointments through MyChart and access earlier openings when available.
Wait List tracks patients who would like to be considered for an earlier appointment as openings become available.
Fast Pass builds on Wait List functionality by automatically notifying eligible patients of earlier appointment opportunities and allowing them to accept those openings electronically.
Self-Scheduling through MyChart expands patient access by providing a convenient digital scheduling option that allows patients to book imaging appointments at a time and location that best meets their needs.
The Epic scheduling tools have been successfully deployed across five additional imaging modalities, including Bone Mineral Density, Screening Mammography, Diagnostic Mammography, Ultrasound, and Fluoroscopy, significantly expanding patient access to digital scheduling options. By enabling patients to self-schedule and take advantage of earlier openings through Wait List and Fast Pass, the initiative improves scheduling flexibility, increases utilization of available imaging capacity, and reduces barriers to timely care. Building on this success, expansion to MRI and CT is underway, extending the benefits of patient-centered scheduling to some of the organization’s highest-demand services and further improving access to care.

The Radiology Procedural Care Redesign (PCR) initiative optimizes procedural care workflows and scheduling practices across UW Health Radiology. Through three interrelated workstreams – Protocol Standardization, Scheduling Integration, and Workflow Optimization – multidisciplinary teams evaluate key aspects of procedural care delivery from scheduling through procedure completion. Leveraging data-driven analysis and operational expertise, the workgroups develop recommendations that support streamlined, standardized processes, enhance workflow efficiency, improve resource utilization, and ultimately expand patient access to radiology services as demand continues to grow.
Currently Underway
CHVI continues to make significant progress in leveraging data, analytics, and emerging technologies to improve access, operational performance, and decision-making across the organization. A key accomplishment is the expansion of remote scanning and monitoring capabilities to eight MRI scanners and one CT scanner, increasing operational flexibility and supporting approximately 24 remote monitoring sessions per month. This capability enhances the ability to provide specialized imaging support across locations while creating a foundation for future workforce and access innovations.
The CHVI Data, AI, and Analytics Workgroup completed a comprehensive Radiology Platforms and Reports Inventory, establishing a centralized resource documenting radiology-related analytics platforms and reports. This work improves visibility into existing analytics resources and reduced duplicate reporting requests, enabling analysts to focus more time on strategic initiatives, advanced analytics, and operational improvement efforts.
Significant progress was made toward implementing Quantivly through technical planning, infrastructure planning, and procurement activities. These foundational efforts will support deployment of a next-generation imaging analytics platform capable of delivering real-time operational insights to improve utilization, capacity management, and patient access.
CHVI is building its Education and Training pillar to advance workforce development, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning across the organization. Additional initiatives and accomplishments will be announced as this work continues to evolve.
CHVI is actively developing its Translational Innovation pillar, with upcoming initiatives designed to transform innovative concepts into practical solutions that enhance care delivery, operational excellence, and patient outcomes.
